    I am wondering if we searched for our grand,grand.....grand parents betta pictures...how do they look like? is there fancy looking betta in the wild?

    The wild betta splendens does not have the colors we see today. There are very few colors in the wild, but lots of color genes. Through breeding we have increased the color variations. . . and colors/patterns are still being created.

    Edit: Macrostoma means big mouth... How appropriate
