    Fivestar does have plenty of experience with these brand of tanks and I WOULD MOST DEFINITLY take his advice on it!

    It turned out (sorry, pun intended) that the biowheel wasn't turning because it was not put together completely. I tightened the end "caps" and now it works perfectly!
