    Default Riley's tail

Today I noticed that my fish has a chunk missing out of his tail. There isn't anything in his tank that he could've torn it on. If he is biting his own tail, what would be the reason for it?

If you have plastic plants, they can cause tears in your fish's tail. I have had plastic plants and my bettas were always fine until the most recent one. She darted around too fast and caught it in passing. They always seemed too soft to get hurt on.

If he is biting it then he is bored. I forget what thread I read it in, but someone suggested one of those little plastic balls for a parakeet because it is bright and somewhat interesting.

I normally use bettafix when my bettas have torn fins. I got it from Petco and it seems to work rather well.
