    Lightbulb Betta Tai Chi

Has anyone had a particularly rough day and all you could think about were your betta's? That's what I've been doing the past few days due to lack of sleep and a particularly greuelling schedule. I was doing Betta Tai Chi, the thought of my betta community had a calming affect on my haggard mind, if not my body.

FiveStar and I talked about this last night as we were headed home from being thoroughly frustrated by the driving route I had to do & having bit off each other's heads a few times. I mentioned that my bettas keep coming to mind when I'm stressed & I try to feel the calm I do when watching them in less stressful times.

I just wondered if anyone else had this affect when they were stressed out & thought of their betta family at home.

Yes i definitly do, when i am upset or had a rough day last the past couple i do, think about my bettas, no so much my fry, but my adults for comforting. Even when i'm home upset, hurting or destressed i do think about them even when i'm in the room looking at them. I do feel that they do have a sense of power over use for calming us down. I know that sounds wierd but like my dogs they know when we are hurting, i feel our bettas do to! Just me thinking about them now swimming and acknowledging your presence gives you a sense of relaxation and a sense of sanity. Am i the only one that thinks this too?

*blushing* I have to admit, Jack's obsession does tend to pull me in too. I have always loved betta's due to their ability to connect with their owners. I rarely got that with any other fish. I was just the source of food when I came to the tank. My first betta really was happy to see me & came to 'talk' to me when I was lonely.

Now I have so many choices to go to with my troubles... its hard to choose just one... but repeating my story gets bothersome, so its handy having 4 tanks in one room. I have a lot of betta ears to bend!!!

Hey you guys, you're not alone when looking to your fish for calming or de-stressing and there's lots of studies that have shown the therapeutic value of having fish/pets. I can't recall off the top of my head, any specific studies using just bettas (hmmmm. . .maybe I should do one) but I'm sure ours would be even more therapeutic. And ya know, mine never tell anybody (humans, that is) anything I say to them!

I must agree that I find my Bettas and my fellow forum members a happy change of pace for me in my very hectic schedule called life and motherhood!!! My Bettas "talk" too and when I try and tell people that they look at me like I've lost my marbles and then probably think I need to go on Dr. Phil and not Oprah or the Tonight Show! LOL!!! Seriously, though, I do enjoy my Bettas and find them very comforting when I spend a few minutes alone with them (all of them)!
