| I believe there are some machines called automatic feeders. They cost around USD 10-20 and will automatically drop in pellets, flakes, freeze-dried bloodworms, freeze-dried krill, etc, on a fixed schedule. You can set the timer to feed 1-3 times per day. I'm not sure how many days they can feed up to though as I haven't bought one before. But I believe to can control the amount of food it feeds too (the more expensive feeders), so you can feed exactly 8 pellets, 4 bloodworms, etc, per serving by putting them in the provided feeder compartments. |

| Sounds like a fansastic idea especially if you're gone a lot! If you get one, let us know how it works and if your fish do okay with it!! ![]()

If you are going to be gone longer than a week or two, you may be forced into finding someone to take care of your Betta babies! I just came back from vacation and was fortunate enough to have aneighbor who also keeps fish watch over mine. I did leave very specific instructions, however, when it came to feeding and also showed them how I did things. Thankfully we weren't gone long enough that any water changes had to be done. If you have a friend that you can walk through how to do everything like water changes, feedings, etc., you could do that. However, let me stress that the friend you leave them with should actually see you do a water change and feeding. Don't use the tank mate feeding things. Bettas will over eat (it's their nature), so dropping one of those things in the tank only causes problems like constipation and swim bladder condition. Another option is a fish sitting service. Those are offered in some places but I'm never comfortable having a stranger come into my home or take care of my fish.
