Default Place to buy Java Moss or Fern

Is there a place, online, where you can purchase live plants for Bettas? I would like to get some Java Fern or preferably Java Moss for my Betta but am not having any luck with finding it at any stores in my area. The local Petco does have a lot of plants but they were in a tank with the not-so-healthy-feeder fish and I didn't want to risk it. Thanks

The best place I have found to order Java Moss is Aquarium Gardens. That is where I order mine from and you will get a good size chunk. Once you place your order (you can also pay through PayPal if you have an account), you will have your moss in about 4-5 days. The actual moss itself is about $5.00 but the shipping is more like $10.00 or so since it is shipped in a short time because of live plant shipping. The Java Moss is a great addition to any tank since it helps keep the ammonia and nitrIte levels down by living off your fish's pee and poo. Bettas also like to rest on it. Once you have one or two chunks, you will never need to buy anymore since you can tear a portion of it off and add it to another tank and it will grow quite nicely.

Here is the link for the Java Moss at Aquarium Gardens: [Registered users only can see links. ].

Hope this helps! Let me know if I can answer anymore questions for you, too!

Thank you so much! I read a lot on the Java Fern and Moss on several sites and really got excited and wanted to get some for my guy and was so dissappointed to not find any around. I am also glad to hear that it should be a one time purchase!

Thanks again for the detailed post/information. You have made my betta, Petrie, one happy little fish - no more plastic plants for him.

Glad I could help! Your fish will definitely be happy with some new hiding places and even cleaner water!
