Default Is Bettafix really good for fin rot?

The fins of my betta are REALLY damaged. I don't know if I was treating for the wrong thing or not because I've tried everything. I thought the damaged fins were just result of another disease. And just now I realized it wasn't. I added aquarium salt and I found the Bettafix and I used just today.
Reading about it again, I found out that Maracyn is much better and that Bettafix won't really cure it.
    Is that true?
Should I keep trying the Bettafix or tomorrow I can start with the Maracyn? His fins a bad bad bad. Poor guy.
It can be any Maracyn or is there a special one for betta?
Also, there's a peel on the surface of the water. I've changed today the water and added the salt and bettafix. When should I change the water again once he is sick? Every 3 days, or just next week? The water seems to get dirty quickly lately.
Something else: how about the methylene blue? Should I tried with these treatments, separately or should not even try?

personally i dont use bettafix, but i have heard pretty good things about it. how big is your tank? do you have any snails or plants in your tank (or both)? you probably should only have one treatment in the tank at a time, methylene blue is pretty good, check to see if your betta fix has it in it.

Optimum temp for bettas is 27 degrees celcius or 80 F

Need to ask me about converting something from litres to gallons or vice versa or temp from the farenheit to celcius, inches to centimetres. I'M HERE!

It's an 1 gallon. So, I started yesterday with bettafix and according to the instructions, I have to repeat the dose every day up to 7 days and then change the water. It sounds too long for me and too much before changing the water. It just poured the second dose and my betta went to the bottom after 5 minutes and before he was just floating. I don't know which is better.
He tries hard to go to the surface and sometimes he floats on the surface a little on one side.
I really don't know what else I can do. I'm afraid to put too many sorts of medicine and kill him, but at the same time, I'm afraid not to try anything and he dies because he can't eat or I don't treat him.
How long should I keep trying the bettafix? His fins are bad, but I don't know if I just stop using medicines and wait for them to grow again.
Also, he is still not eating.

If it is truly a case of severe fin rot, then bettafix is not going to do the job. You will need to change to the maracyns. See Fishmomma's post about using maracyn(s) in the health section. Also, you will need to do water changes everyday. Water quality is a major source of fin rot problems.

You're using a 1 gallon, do you have a filter, heater? Do you check your pH and ammonia levels? PH is an indicator of ammonia levels and if ammonia levels are high, it will eat the fins off the fish. Ammonia poisoning can cause even more severe damage.

It's so sad, every time I change the water or add medicine he gets worse, goes to the bottom, swims strange and them he floats.
However, at least in the past 2 days he is reacting and trying to swim when I get closer, because before he wouldn't even move.
I'll try 2 more days with Bettafix (that it will be the 4th) and I'll stop everything and give him a few more days, if he will have some left and then, I'll try the maracyn.
    What do you think?
PS: he is still not eating anything.

personally i think you should have a 2 gallon tank or larger because of water quality and the rule of 1inch per gallon of water (hence 2 for bettas)... i hope your betta gets better, i recomend putting a mark on your calender on when he first stopped eating and keep an eye on it.
I guess your idea would be worth a try if betta fix isnt working, although i would be starting on the maracyn probably tomorrow.
