| do not release the female until she has stripes and is swimming head down when he comes near her. A lot of other people also say wait for there to be a decent bubble nest, but others say it isn't necessary. It is necessary that she be ready and have stripes. If she doesn't present herself head down, but flares at him then she might tear up his fins instead of cooperating. |

| It's fine to leave them in the same tank together as long as they can't physically touch each other. This is actually recommended because it takes time for them to realize that they have to get it on; it's not instantaneous. Sometimes it takes days (or in Mel's case, months ) if they're not well conditioned to each other. Even the nest building takes a long time, and the actual mating act takes a bit, too. You should probably read up on what happens during breeding before you put them together; sometimes people aren't always online and can't help you 'right this second'! |

| hey, it is taking months because i dont want there to be any problems (and they were the backup pair because my last pair died within a day of eachother, one just died no apparent reason and other fish in the tank that are still alive today, the female committed suicide by jumping out of the tank)... be careful with your fish. make sure you have a cover for your tank >.<

I'M HERE! |

| Oh, I'm so sorry. Definitely need some type of cover on these tanks or lower water levels. They are jumpers! Always seems like when you want to spawn a certain pair, it takes forever. They need to get on "our" time schedule and quit doing things on their own schedule! Darn lil brats! |
