umm if you can't handle the amount of babies they might have then maybe you shouldn't breed them. It really isn't fair to be flushed down a toilet...

You may have 50 in a spawn, less actually hatch, and less survive. Also, during the grow out stages you may have some to cull (various reasons: curved spines, fin problems, etc.). It is very easy to have a spawn of 100 and maybe 20 in the end. But remember, bettas can have very large spawns and it is lots of work raising them. You have to be prepared with fry food to feed at about 3 days, live food later, then plenty of space for individual males once they start maturing. Please read all that you can about breeding BEFORE you attempt it. Check out the site that Victoria Parnell has [Registered users only can see links. ] Her knowledge of the betta splendens is quite extensive!

That i definitly wouldn't recommend doing, if you remove while the spawning process is active your chancing overly stressing your female and your male, resulting in them getting sick and depressed, you female will most likely have trouble breeding next few attempts and your male will eat the eggs if you do this.
