Default Aquarium Fish Breeding - Angelfish, Bettas, etc.?

    Hi,

I'm an amateur fish breeder, and so far I have successfully bred Fancy Guppies, Mollies, Platies and Betta Splendens. At the moment I have a breeding pair of Koi Angelfish and a small group of Peppered Corydoras, which have all bred (but I have not yet attempted to hatch them).

My question is: Which aquarium fish should I breed?

I was intending on breeding my Koi Angelfish, but they’re fairly vicious fish and rather large, and I’m unsure whether I’d have enough room for the offspring. I have the following tanks:

    50cm x 50cm x 50cm Octagonal Tank (120Litres roughly)
    77cm x 30cm x 37cm Tank
    40cm x 20cm x 20cm Tank

I’m very interested in breeding Betta Splendens (Siamese Fighters), but I’m unsure of how I’d stop the male fry from fighting and, if to do so is necessary, how to separate them. I’m also interested in Ancistrus, Corydoras species, other Labyrinth fish and Ram Cichlids. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

well im not that good at breeding questions, but i know one of the questions. the male frys of the betta will not start fighting with each other until about 3 months after they have hatched. so seperate them in about 2 and half to 3 months. for the other question i would refer to Luis ( Bettalu&meg) because he is a breeding expert.

Hi Jared and WELCOME to the forum.

First, may I suggest that you take some time and RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, and when you think you've gotten it, Research some more. The fish that you have listed can be quite complicated. As for which fish to breed. . . that has to be your decision, not ours. If you choose to try your bettas (which I'm a little confused about, have you bred them or not) then we'll be here to help.

Let us know what you decide and how we can be of help! Glad you're here with us!

I agree with bettalvr, borrow out books from the library and look up info on internet sites, talk to breeders, then write everything you think you know on a piece of paper and check with all your sources that its right.
