Betta breeding question?

I wanted to stay away from the regular veil tail betta (as much as I love mine), but I cannot find a female for my half moon. So my questions are-
Has anyone had any luck ordering bettas from the internet?
If so, from where?
What tail type do you think I should I breed?

you should never order fish from the internet . think about it shipping no food and other essentials!!! im not sure what tail type to breed.

Hello i'm Bettalu(Luis) and i'm the breeder on the betta fish forum.
Now for your questions, Theres alot of controversy on whats better, Buying bettas from petstores, or ordering them from breeders across seas, And the right answers is..... well there is none. I personally have store bought bettas and i know people who order them online and have them shipped. There are advantages and downfalls with both so either or would be fine. Personally i like to see my bettas up close and personal before purchasing so i buy from petstores.
Now for the type to breed, You can breed what you like, there's really no preference but yours. The fin type that catches your eye and you like is the one you should stick with. Breeding is not an easy thing and i strongly advise looking and researching about it. I also placed threads and posts on the breeding section of this forum on how-tos and the simple basics. YOU SHOULD DEFINITLY TAKE A LOOK AT THOSE. breeding takes a lot of dedication and time, and can not be ignored. If so you can end up with a dead betta and a fataly wounded one. So read up before experimenting. and if you need any help or questions answered please ask, i'll be more than happy to help

I have personally gotten fish from overseas and from the states shipped in. I just got two shipped in this week from a breeder in the states. I am a little perplexed as to why someone would not order via internet if you do your research on the person you are ordering from. As for the shipping, Legures, the ones that are in the LFS get shipped in also, and they're shipped in by the thousands and are usually older ones as LFSs want them to already have nice finnage and color. I can understand Luis's point of wanting to physically see them prior to purchase, but the shipping is the same pretty much regardless of where you get them. My experience has been that purchasing from private breeders and having them shipped is best. As least they're packaged correctly, have heat/cool packs, and oftentimes IAL in the bags with them.
