BettaOwner, usually 2 weeks of conditioning (letting them view one another a few mins. a day & feeding) is sufficient. She will fill with eggs, looks like she swallowed a small marble. If you are using the same divided tank as a spawn tank, once she shows vertical stripes, you can remove the divider, but not before seeing the lines (as long as she is a dark betta, light ones will not show the vertical stripes). Once you are ready to release her, you will need to do a major water change and add Indian Almond Leaf or extract. The water change and tannins usually induce spawning. Once you release her, keep the lights off, cover the tank (you can peek once in a while), and leave them be. It doesn't always happen in a few hours, it could take a couple of days and it may not happen the first time around.

Dark horizontal lines down her sides. Usually what you see when you first get them, water changes, etc.

Stressed bettas in general will have horizontal stripes, or their coloring might fade, or their fins might clamp up.

Do all bettas display stress lines when they are stressed? My newest male is the only betta I have had to get stress lines.

Need to ask me about converting something from litres to gallons or vice versa or temp from the farenheit to celcius, inches to centimetres. I'M HERE!

I have only seen him stress when I put him in a new tank and when he was sick.

My females is turning a lighter grey colour. She is a blue.
I have their tanks next to each other and she will only turn to her blue when she sees the male flaring at her, well not so much flaring. Maybe just showing off but he doesn't flare much.
Also, what is that white stuff between the female's fins and gills?

It isn't really white. The lighter part of the stripes turn silvery and that is just how the lighting is hitting them. Also when they get so full of eggs they get lighter around where their stomach is stretching more.
