    Default Betta breeding questions?

I have read that it is a good idea to cover the top of the tank with plastic wrap to keep out airborne oil and dust. Will my aquarium hood achieve the same effect?

What brand of heater is most reliable?

For optimum health and growth what is the best food for betta fry and where can it be found?

I don't think it matters if you cover the tank or not when you breed them... I don't know about the heaters, but if you already have the Betta's, you should have a heater already established in the tank, so move it over to the other one where you breed them. For Betta fry, you should crush the pellets/flakes up into tiny powder, and feed the fry that.

The more air the better! as for the heater, you definitly want to have a heater set to a constant 80 degrees F. I breed for a hobby and know these things .
Also after your fry hatched and THERE FREE SWIMMING. this is your first feeding for them. For there first meal you should feed them, like i do, Hikari First Bites [Registered users only can see links. ] This is what you want to feed them for a week. After a week since there mouths were to small, to eat live food before that passing week, you feed them the live foods. Baby brine shrimp, walter worms, microworms, vinegar eels. These can be ordered on ebay from private sellers. These are very inexpensive and easier. Baby brine shrimp, is what i use and the easiest i think to hatch and feed your fry after a week of the powder. also you want to mix there foods aafter the first week, Baby brine shrimp, or any one of those live foods, and a little bit of powder food.
DO NOT FEED ADULT FOOD, AS THEY ARE TO SMALL TO DIGEST HARSH FOODS LIKE THOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with you Luis, don't feed adult foods. Nutritional requirements for fry are quite different than adults and digestibility can mean a difference in life and death. Elizabeth, if you're serious about breeding these beautiful fish, do find someone to help mentor and/or just r-e-a-l-l-y pick Luis' brain for info. . . he's a great resource and willing to help! There are several others on here who are just as willing to help and offer their experiences also. Take advantage of the knowledge on this forum!!!
