"Well i breed and if your thinking about doing this be prepared to be dedicated, its hard work and take ALOT OF PATIENTS!! i also have 10 adults of different fins to greater my chances in breeding. When they mate you can up to 50-150 fry that in 3 months after hatching you have to put all the males in seperate jars, because they'll fight. You need constant watch and cleaning of the tank. You also are risking the ripage of fins and death to the fish, death happens to breeders who don't pay close attention to there betta while attempting to spawn, The male will harrass, bite and rip some of her fins to show dominance, this is what keeps people from breeding because it takes time for fins to grow back. The bubble nest also had to be a decent size, while my first spawn the sent was just inside the styrofoam cup, and my other the bubbles. went past it. it also depends on the femals standards, believe it or not. if she doesn't like it it could take hours even days to be intrested again. Also a sign that she is ready and intrested is she shows her vertical stripes, if she doesn't show it, she wont. check out these signs of intrest then i'll write step by step what i did. there also preperation of the tank you have to do, like water level, temp, browning of the water(no manditory but helps tremendously), setting up hidding places for her during spawn to rest and run and hide from harrassments." This is what i wrote to prepare someone that posted the same question, (lisa i think her username is). |
