Tank 1- Yes from my breeding experiances theres a sort of pattern u can follow to help the process go. Keep her in the vase for 3 days and let her out in for one, her rip fins are a normal sign of the male harrassing and showing dominance. this is normal, for some people who don't want this to happen, it will. Keep a close eye on them both but do not release her unless her strips are visible and the male set up a decent nest. Female bettas are also pickey when they see the nest, if it aint to her standards she wont mate. Also size, if she is very tiny, it isn't really a good idea, being that she is more prone to fatal bites and harrassments. the female should be not the same size but slightly smaller.
Tank 2- It sounds like more of a territorial thing for the both, the male is blowing bubbles in intrest, but the female seems to be flaring in trying to show dominance. This is another reason to make sure the female is smaller than the male, the male has to show dominance in the tank other wise the female will not mate. usually they will swim side by side pushing against each other then attack, this is a sign of betta fish fighting, remove the female. Try and get a smaller female for him. Also believe it or not some fish are very pickey and prefer other males/females. I have 10 adults and breed as much as possible. and i came like my other breeder friends, that females have prefrences, what they are.. i don't know but they do. if a female doesnt like a certain male, color or type she wont mate. Out of my 10 adults, they each have there set mate and wont try it with others, they actually fight the other ones until that specific betta is put with them.
*If you have any other quesitons feel free to ask.i'll send u my info and other information needed! i breed bettas as a hobby and currently on my third batch, of a Crown male, and a normal viel female. The first 2 where just normal tails with each other. |
