    Default Betta Breeding Question

Okay well, ive been conditioning my bettas for about a month and yesterday i put them in together,( the male already made a good bubble nest) and sometimes the female was pushing the eggs out herself and eating them, then the actual breeding went on with the male and the female, and they kept eating them.. She still has a lot more eggs, and i added plants today, and its like they're just chasing eachother away... if you have any answers please help me. Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
I have a question about breeding. How do you get the fish ready like when do you know its ok to put them in the same tank? how do you know if the male is ready and the sam for the female? Cause I might have a female betta and not know it cause the fish was giving to me by a friend.

    Thank you
    Sweetsara

can u make your post clearer. the bubble nest is made of just bubbles, just air and water. to make eggs the male and female have to copulate (embrace) for a few seconds, then the little yellow eggs fall from the female and the male goes around scooping them up in his mouth. he then spits them into the bubble nest. when he is finished doing that, they embrace again, and she drops more eggs.

when they have finished mating the male will chase the female constantly unless you take her out of the tank.

From what you have posted it appears you are watching the female playing with the bubble nest (which they do sometimes, cause they dont like what the male has built), and not the eggs. Can you see the tiny yellow dots in the white/clear bubbles? if so take the female out immediately, otherwise leave her in because they havent actually mated yet.

if the female are pushing eggs out withOUT the male wraping his body around her.. that isn't a good sign. she's to full and fed overly and has no room for those eggs, resulting in unfertile eggs, there eating because they can't be saved. take her out for a 3weeks and atempt again. after that, when the mating process does take place she will release her eggs and they'll catch it in there mouths (this is not them eating it, although its scary and looks like it!) and put it in the nest. (usually the male does but in my breeding exp. they both sometimes do it) feel free to go to my thread and ask or email me and ask Luis_megan21108@ yahoo. com i breed and have experiance with these lil guys ^_^
