Default I am trying to breed my male and female bettas, but he is not interested in making...

...a nest for her. Help? They seem to get along remarkable well. The male obviously favors one female (of two), but he won't build a nest for her. I have red-tailed sharks, clown loaches, farwallas, cory cats, an angel, and a botia in the same tank, but they are separated by a divider. All my fish get along very well, and the tank is planted with plenty of hiding places. The water seems to be healthy, I have done small periodic water changes to encourage breeding, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I live in Austin, which typically has more alkaline water, but mine is more on the acidic side.

Basically I am wondering if anyone has any ideas? (I am also curious if you think the mirrored backing that came with my tank might play a role?)

** I am looking for help, not for you to insult me. I know that typically male and female bettas don't get along, but mine have, also the other fish in my tank get along great, I have not had a fish kill another. So if your "help" is not actually help, keep it to your self please. Thanks!

I am a breeder and will not insult you and asking questions is the best thing to do when your not sure! Keep in touch with me for breeding and Fishmomma for health and u'll have healthy bettas and fry for a long time! Having anyfish in a breeding tank is a bad idea!!! you want to have a seperate tank just for that. constant distraction will definitly delay the production of a bubble nest and if it was to be started he wont continue with is like he should.
Definitly purchase another tank for this and a 10 gallon is ideal for a successful spawn to have room for 50-150 fry for now! heres links to get u started follow these then ask and u'll be prepared for the unexpected and expect the expected and have fun doing it!
