    Default My boyfriends Crowntail

I bought him the crowntail in sept. for his birthday. I had never had one before so I figured his fins were normal, I thought he just looked unique from the rest. But after further inspection I realized some of his fins were curled at the ends and it might be bad. I thought it might be possibly from fin rot or something like that, but he acts perfectly healthy, and while I had ick and fin rot on my other fish, I treated the tank with him in it, he seems to be the healthiest throughout the whole ordeal. I don't think its fin rot or a disease but I'm not sure, could this be from old age, or could he just be like that?

Usually water quality is the culprit. . . stay up on those water changes. Sometimes after fin rot you will see white on the ends of the fins, which may or may not regain their color pigment. The curling does sound like fit rot at some point. Have you checked the ammonia levels in your tank?

There are ammonia test kits out there. They work just like the pH test kits where you get a few mL of tank water and then add some drops of mystical caustic fluids

Becke, you don't have a fin nipper in there do you? That could perpetuate whatever is going on with him.

Since his fins were curled when you got him, it could have been the water quality that caused it or at least contributed to it. It could also be genetics.
