    Is it true that harder water makes crowntail's fins curl?

    well that one cause of that outcome, and if he is clamping his fins (pulling them close to his body) he is reacting to something stressful, such as a water temperature change, or a change in his water condition, etc. Curling the fins may also indicate that he has a bacterial infection. However, if just the ends are starting to curl, he may have Fin Rot (not a fungal infection).
    Both diseases that I mention are typically caused by dirty water.
