    Default Possibly Aging Crowntail?

ive had my fishy for a bit over 2 years
when i first got it, the tail was nice and strand-y, typical crowntail tail
but i noticed recently that the strands have been curling at the end and forming knots?
and the strands have sorta 'melted' together so its like one flat fin, only a bit strandy at the ends..
im wondering, is this normal?! everything else about it is normal, still eats well, very lively, its just those fins......

Is it possible your fish has slime disease? That will make the fins cling to themselves and the fish can't flare them out. Depending on how bad it is, sooner or later it will affect the ability to swim.

On the other hand, I have a male that I think is suffering from old age, and his fins have sort of gone limp instead of being full and colorful like they used to. I know it's not slime disease because he can actually open them when he swims, but he just doesn't have the shape that he used to, and his color has faded.

if your not sure, change his water more regularly, but never do 100 percent full water changes. Normally when this happens it is because of the water. Curls on ends of tails shows bad water quality. So try doing something about the water. It might be because of the PH hardness too.
