Why did my crowntail betta change colour?

Well yesterday i went to a mall to buy some games, the fact that im 14. Well i decided to go to walmart to look at some fish. I saw some crowntails and felt sorry for them. Being cramped in a container! So i bought one of them randomly picking. When i looked at it, it was as pale as a piece of paper even the fins and looked kinda dead. I brought it home and put it in my 20 gallon tank that i havent used in a while.. a few days later i noticed that the crowntail had change colour O_O and had turned peach colour and the fins had turn red with some weird colour in the middle of the fin, that when u put light onto it, it looks kinda of purplish. It was very active. Does anyone know what happened? is it happy? or did i do something to it? Thanks

Sounds like you saved him! I have bought at least 5 bettas after feeling sorry for them so I understand. Imagine going from that small plastic container to 20 gallons!!!! From just being there for a few days, he`s already improving. Good work!!

Bettas tend to lose color and become pale when they're stressed out. It seems like your little guy was just stressed out in the store, and now that he's settled into his new home he's becoming more comfortable and his true colors are showing

Bettas and most fish get a washed-out look to their color when they are stressed. It means that you are giving the fish much better care than it had before! Congrats!

Well Done buddy u saved one life........ n he's happy as he is showing colours...... yeah betta tend to lose their colour when they are under stress or in fear........ Good Work! CONGRATS!!!
