Default I just got a male Crown tail Betta?

Well, I got Betta Bites for it (100% floating) do I need flakes too?
His tank is not that big at all, but he's the only fish that will be in it.
It's not filtered, and there is betta conditioner in it.
He's actually really friendly and he comes up to my finger when I place it on the side of the tank.

Since my tank is unfiltered how often should I change the water? All at once every week?

His plant came with the tank and it's plastic.

    Anything else I should know?

I clean my 3 bettas tanks every week to week and a half so they arent that much work. I just also feed mine the pellets and no flakes every other day. Hope this helps!

Bettas don't need the flakes and some won't eat them anyways. But if yours will than that adds variety to his diet. As long as you remove the bits of food that he doesn't eat the cleanings shouldn't be too frequent. I clean mine once a week. I place the bettas in the cup they came in (or a drinking glass), and i add that bit of old water in with the new. You might want to look into buying him a live plant. I think mine are happier now with their new plants.

You could also supplement his diet with frozen brine shrimp and/or bloodworms, or some live wingless fruit flies. Lots of people fast their betta for 1 day a week and give him a 1/4 of a cooked pea to get rid of and prevent any constipation.

They arent wingless... simply flightless. I like to imagine that the wings lend a bit of texture to the meal!
