Blaize, my new crowntail betta.?

I got my new crowntail betta Blaize just yesterday, and he doesnt seem as colorful as he should be..and hes really small. How old is he and what can i do to make him happier?
I keep him in a half gallon bowl right now..and the bowl looks REALLY big for him!
I added water conditioner and all thats needed and the water temperature is fine..he swims around occasionally but sometimes just sits at the top of the bowl..
I plan on putting him in something bigger! this is just his temporary home right now...
Is this just normal behavior when you first get a betta?
(this is my first Crowntail Betta..ive had normal bettas before)

In my experience, bettas always seem a bit lethargic when you first get them, and I've had crowntails too. Wait a few days, and try feeding him food with color enhancer if you want him to get colorful fast. It's worked well with my bettas. He'll perk up in a few days, expecially if you put him in a bigger environment. I've never had bettas in a tank less than 1 gallon.

This is true. But....we have no way of knowing how old your betta is. He may be only 5 months old.
