At least there are more laws governing abuse of fuzzier animals; it wouldn't be legally considered animal abuse if you didn't feed a betta at all and left it in a drinking glass all its life but if you put a kitten in a shoebox and left it there until it died you'd be breaking animal cruelty laws. I get so angry at the local pet store for how they keep their reptiles; the cages are all pretty clean, but much colder and drier than they should be for certain animals. They had a good snake guy working there for a while and the ball pythons he showed me looked to be in pretty good shape, but all the recent ones I've seen look stressed, timid, and have awful cases of mouth rot

Yep, and you're right, the laws basically cover the fuzzy kids. . . none of our others. I'm with you, it infuriates me! They all deserve to be cared for.
Think we could move all the 'people' out of PA and open a rescue haven for all species, except homo sapiens?

PA's a pretty big state...be hard to move everyone out. Maybe Vermont or Connecticut or something. Lots of people there, but it'd be a much shorter wall we'd have to build around the border

So sad, they are not just decorations, they use them also as humidifier and a night light: [Registered users only can see links. ]

oh my god, bettafish, i think you have stumbled onto something extremly horrid... "A camera inside the tank displays what’s going on inside the virtual fish tank on your computer, so you never even have to look at the real fish if you like to neglect animals. " I cant believe anyone with any love for the environment or animals would be able to type/read that without feeling angry!

2 gallons is the recomended volume, which is 7.57L

Optimum temp for bettas is 27 degrees celcius or 80 F

Need to ask me about converting something from litres to gallons or vice versa or temp from the farenheit to celcius, inches to centimetres. I'M HERE!
