    Default snails?

i think i might have some stowaways that i got when i bought my plants from petsmart because now it looks like i have some baby snails in my tank and i didnt buy any. is it possible that the snails laid eggs on the plants, cuz the plants and the snails are in the same tank area i mean they use the same water so is it possible that thats what they are i mean my betta seems very healthy and happy building bubblenest and swimming around everywhere, so should i be worried or glad that snails have now started showing up?

P.S. some are black shelled and others like the smaller ones are clear and they move around on my tank walls

it depends completly on the snails... it could be the bad type which have been known to eat the plants, or it could just be baby golden apple snails... could you see any type of egg nest on the waterline of the plant?

Those sound like the asexually reproducing snails that are more of a pest than a help. They normally come on new plants and reproduce a ton.

those snails might be the "pest snails" type, what you want to do is remove them by hand and take out the plants. Run the plants under HOT water for a few minutes, any snails, eggs etc left on the plant will fall off due to the extreme heat. Then rinse with warm water to check and repeat if neccasary, i have done this and has worked for me.
They cant harm your bettas in fact my bettas likes to pick on them bitting off there tenticle and be a pest to them, but they can do harm to your plants, if they are the plant eating kind. Golden apple snails and RamsHorn snails are the snails you want for your breeding tank, LOTS of benefits from these types of snails

so you did what i explained? if so, definitly keep an eye on them i have some of those snails and decided to keep 3 or 4 of them, but have had to remove my plants, which was dying but i didn't mind because i have to go shopping for supplies soon love that part. but if so, keep an eye on your tank. what you can do, to be sure is place a piece of lettuce(cleaned and washed) into your tanks center or away from your plants and wait a hour or so if there are snails in your tank, they will be on that piece of lettuce, dispose of those suckers that way also
