    Do you have to filter out your bowls water?

    Default Do you have to filter out your bowls water?

    Should you be filtering out your bowls water like you do with a tank? I haven't been filtering out, so i want to know if im doing it right.

    Well if you don't have a filter, water changes are a must at the end of the week, i would say 75-80% of the water should be changed and conditioned. A filter is definitly a plus tho. and i would get one if you can. Also using a turkey baster is a good idea in sucking out un-wanted wastes in your tank.

    Not sure exactly what you mean by filtering your bowl, but check out the info from fishmomma, she can guide you through excellent care of your fish! Let us know how he's doing, too.

    Hey Oscar, if you have them in a bowl its a definite must to change out thier water weekly as Luis mentioned. "Take care of those Bettas"!

    Doing a water change of 75%-85% once a week is a must for a bowl. Bowls are one of those things that are actually harder to clean than a tank if for no other reason than a vaccum gravel is usually too large for them. Do use the turkey baster since it is both long and skinny. Also, avoid taking your Betta out of the bowl if possible . . . it will be less stressful for him. With the bowls, the other thing to remember is to put the water level at the widest part of the bowl so that he has the most surface area to use his labyrinth organ on. This will make it easier to breath air from the surface.
