Yesterday I fed Krill to my betta and he's taking a huge dump, or is this just a coincidence

Yes i beleive they have the same affect as a pea would, laxative substance are good for there digestive system and prevents swim bladder disorder, but any type of food given all the time without variety is not good! giving your betta a variety of food is the best thing for them and their health! [Registered users only can see links. ] heres the link for hikari, its the brand thats very nutritional for bettas, and breeders like myself use and swear by it! As for other foods. Pellets and flakes should be used as there set diet!
Pellets should be giving 3-4 pellets each serving, and should be pre-soaked before giving them. i know it doesn't say it in the directions but being soft helps them chew it better, it hydrates it, and is better for there stomachs. Flakes should be served by the pinch. Any extra food that's not eaten in 5 minutes should be removed! This prevents bacteria blooms from decaying food, prevents over feeding, and keeps the water quality good in your tank! Bloodworms, brineshrimp, krill etc, should be snacks or substitue for there set diet ONCE AND A WHILE! doing all this will prevent all types of stomach problems for your bettta!!
I breed and do this with all my adults and there fry, VARIETY IN FEEDING IS THE ONLY WAY TO SECURE HEALTHINESS!

Definitely do the variety feeding thing or you will end up with Swim Bladder Condition (SBC) or constipation. In answer to your questions, yes Krill do act as a laxative for Bettas. Here is a good link to different types of food for tropical fish: [Registered users only can see links. ].

Hope this helps answer your questions!
