    Default a pond...I really want a pond..

I would really like to set up a pond for my females...or perhaps a pond for "natural" living/breeding. I've been doing alot of reading up,
I was thinking of maybe sticking with the whiskey barrel variety & keeping it on the porch. (as I would really lose it if a bird found my bettas.)but I was wondering any of you have a pond? or some advice about ponds for this aquarium person? thanx.

    Default ponds

using an old wiskey barrel for a pond I think is a bad idea because of the traces of fermentation and eventualy the wood will rot. I personaly wood use an old bath tub mounted on a strong but short stand with plants surounding the base as this will give it hight with the added bonus of making it fit in to your patios, decor

Okay, my friend has a pond in her back yard. This is florida, so it's pretty warm, I don't think temperature will be a problem. HOWEVER. It's been drained because it got a leak. They're gonna patch it with concrete and fill it back up, after I get in there with a rake and pull out all the duckweed and muck and defunct electronics from the bottom. It's a decent sized pond, they had goldfish in it before, do you think there'd be any problem with having a community of females in there, left over from my batch of fry?

Nah, the pond's still all empty and such. I was over there today, raking the muck out of the bottom and chasing her boxer out of it once in a while... the liner still has holes in it. There were some MASSIVE frogs living in the muck. Really cool looking, too. Pale green with a dark brown spot pattern, and the size of your hand with your fingers splayed.
Anyways... they're lazy. They'll probably wait til the last second before they concrete the bottom. I was just saying that now they have somewhere to go And it's still cool there? It's been getting to the upper eighties every afternoon here... I'm dyin'. My AC farted out on me, too...
